Defect Summary

Equipment description: 16-inch, 8-lug, aluminum alloy wheels, aftermarket wheels for use on trucks or suvs, polished neptune 151 series and chrome neptune 651 series. the part number being recalled are 1516870, 1516882, 6516870, and 6516882. improper chamfer dimension led to an interference in the flange of the center cap protruding into the seating area of the wheel thus preventing the proper seating of the wheel, which resulted in the failure.

Safety Consequence

The defect could result in the wheel coming off the vehicle without warning, which could result in a vehicle crash, injury to the occupant, and/or to people outside the vehicle.

Corrective Action

American racing will notify its customers to contact a local american racing warehouse to schedule repairs free of charge.
