Defect Summary
Equipment description: motorcycle forks produced with fender brackets, part nos. 01-31-44 and 01-31-13, for 19" and 21" wheels. the fender bracket is attached to the motorcycle fork legs, then attaches directly to the fender, or to an intermediate support which attaches to the fender. excess vibration may be generated by a combination of engine size, engine mount methods (vibration isolation), fender weight, fender geometry, and other factors which may lead to high cycle, low stress fatigue with subsequent breaking of the bracket.
Safety Consequence
If excess vibration causes both front fender aluminum brackets to break while operating the motorcycle, the front fender may fall off or under the motorcycle, which could result in a crash, resulting in possible injury or death.
