Defect Summary

Vehicle description: hopper trailers. these hopper trailers were not equipped with the anti-lock braking system in compliance with the requirements of fmvss no. 121, "air brake systems."

Safety Consequence

Without the anti-lock braking system, these hopper trailers will have an increased likelihood of crashes caused by jackknifing and other losses of directional stability and control during braking.

Corrective Action

Dealers will install an anti-lock braking system. owner notification began february 26, 2001. Owners who take their vehicles to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact drake trailers at 1-317-729-5703.
