Defect Summary
Vehicle description: transit buses. these buses were built with a 1200mm or 800mm brake hose. depending on how this hose was mounted, there is a possibility of excessive stress on this hose causing cracking close to the brake chamber as well as at the mounting clamps.
Safety Consequence
The crack could be severe enough to cause air pressure leakage to the front brakes during brake application, increasing the risk of a crash.
Corrective Action
Dealers will replace the front brake hoses. owner notification mailing begam december 7, 2001. owners who take their vehicles to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact abc coach/van hool at 1-800-222-2871.
