Defect Summary

Certain heavy duty class 8 trucks fail to comply with the requirements of fmvss no. 108, "lamps, reflective devices, and associated equipment." two reflectors are missing from the end of the frame crossmember.

Safety Consequence

At night, in a bob-tailed (no trailer) condition, the rear of the truck may not be as visible to vehicles following the truck, increasing the risk of a crash.

Corrective Action

Dealers will install the two missing reflectors. owner notification began december 12, 2001. owners who take their vehicles to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact volvo trucks at 1-800-528-6586.
