Defect Summary
On certain passenger vehicles, the lower steering column shaft coupling may have been installed onto the input shaft of the steering rack with too much clearance between the bottom of the coupling and the steering rack input shaft housing.
Safety Consequence
As a result, the lower steering column shaft coupling could separate from the input shaft of the steering rack, increasing the risk of a crash.
Corrective Action
Dealers will adjust, if necessary, the clearance between the lower steering column shaft coupling and the steering rack input shaft housing, and re-tighten the coupling locking bolt. owner notification began april 1, 2002. owners who take their vehicles to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact lamborghini at 1-781-788-0600.
