Defect Summary

On certain motorcycles, the fuel tanks may have been improperly mounted to the motorcycle. this can put unnecessary stress on the tank mounting tabs, causing these tabs to fail, with the possibility of fuel spillage.

Safety Consequence

Fuel spillage, in the presence of an ignition source, could result in a fire.

Corrective Action

Dealers will remove the tanks, replace the mounting grommets and related hardware, and remount the tanks. owner notification began april 1, 2002. owners who take their vehicles to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact big dog at 1-316-267-2597.
