Defect Summary

Model fx-3 motorcycle helmets manufactured prior to april 2002. the chin strap was sewn with one bar tack as apposed to two bar tacks. this does not comply with the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard no. 218, "motorcycle helmets."

Safety Consequence

In the event of a crash, the helmet may not adequately protect the wearer from serious injury or possible death.

Corrective Action

Afx has notified its dealers and will replace the affected helmets with a 100% compliant helmet free of charge. notification to known customers began march 3, 2003. owners who do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact afx at 519-686-6477 or for more information about the recall, customers can visit afx's website at afxhelmets.com.
