Defect Summary

Prestone jumpit! plus portable power source, part no. As901, manufactured between january 17 and march 7, 2003. during the manufacturing process, three housing srcews affix the head of the air compressor to the cylinder. inconsistent application of these screws may inhibit movement of the piston, causing the cylinder to lock up or be rendered inoperative, thereby drawing excessive current, yeilding heat.

Safety Consequence

This may cause the wire insulation to melt, possibly resulting in a fire.

Corrective Action

Honeywell has notified the wal-mart stores and will place posters of the product recall within these stores. customers will receive full credit for returned products. notification began april 3, 2003. owners who do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact honeywell at 479-271-7934.
