Defect Summary

Kumho ectsa v710 competition race tires sizes 205/50r15, 265/45r16, 275/40r17, 295/40r17, 315/35r17, 335/35r17, and 315/35r18 with serial dates between 3103 and 1404. these tires failed the durability testing of federal motor vehicle safety standard no. 109, "new pneumatic tires."

Safety Consequence

If the tread were to split while in use, a vehicle crash could occur.

Corrective Action

Kumho has notified its customers and will replace the tires free of charge. owner notification began april 5, 2004. owners who take their vehicles to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact kumho at 1-800-445-8646.
