Defect Summary
Certain motor homes fail to comply with the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard no. 120, "tire selection and rims for motor vehicles other than passenger cars." the front axle rating is incorrect.
Safety Consequence
This could cause premature tire tread wear or tire failure during normal driving. the premature tire tread wear or tire failure could lead to a loss of steering control, increasing the risk of a crash.
Corrective Action
Dealers will replace both front tires and the front axle will be re-rated to 12,000 lbs. all motor homes will be issued new federal tire labels. owner notification is expected to begin february 10, 2004. owners who take their vehicles to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact country coach at 1-800-547-8015.
