Battery equalizers - electrical short
Defect Summary
Sure power p/n 52210 24v/12v 100 amp series 1 battery equalizers manufactured from october 24, 2000, through april 30, 2001, for use on certain daimlerchrysler bus slf transit coaches. these equalizers used an inductor with the coils protected by insulation. over time, the inductor insulation may degrade creating a short.
Safety Consequence
The shorted inductor may cause the battery equalizer to smoke or burn, and possibly result in a fire.
Corrective Action
Sure power will notify dc's customers and replace the equalizers free of charge. the recall began on october 1, 2005. owners may contact sure power at 1-800-845-6269 ext. 113.
