Defect Summary

On certain heavy duty class 8 trucks, the bolts that attach the steering gear to the frame may not be tightened properly.

Safety Consequence

This may affect the performance of the steering which may result in a vehicle crash.

Corrective Action

Dealers will check the torque on the bolts that attach the steering gear to the frame and tighten the bolts properly. the recall began august 18, 2005. owners may contact mack at 1-800-528-6586.
