Incorrect park position assembly
Defect Summary
Certain medium duty trucks equipped with the allison series 2500 automatic transmission do not have a park position available inside the automatic transmission. these vehicles may have been assembled with an automatic transmission shift lever control assembly indicating a park position is available for selection by the vehicle operator.
Safety Consequence
This may mislead the vehicle operator into placing the shift lever into the indicated park position and exiting the vehicle without applying the parking brake. this could cause unexpected or uncontrolled movement of the vehicle without prior warning which may result in vehicle crash.
Corrective Action
Dealers will inspect and replace free of charge the shift assembly if it indicates the incorrect park position. the recall is expected to begin on or about january 26, 2007. owners may contact nissan diesel at 972-756-5500.
