Defect Summary

Ferrara recalled 3 fire trucks equipped with caterpillar engines. the extension pipes attached to the aftertreatment regeneration device (ard) may develop a hole, and heat and flame may escape during a regeneration of the diesel particulate filter.

Safety Consequence

This may result in a fire hazard.

Corrective Action

Ferrara is working with caterpillar to have the vehicles repaired (please see 08e054). Owners have been notified and arrangements have been made to have these vehicles repaired.
