Defect Summary

Navistar is recalling 45 model year 2007 through 2010 heavy duty trucks manufactured between january 1, 2007 and may 15, 2009 equipped with feature code 008875 sealed battery cables. the plastic cover that seals the terminal of the cab feed battery cable may prevent proper electrical contact with the fuse or battery terminal post resulting in an open or unprotected circuit.

Safety Consequence

An open circuit may result in sudden loss of cab power or engine shut down, possibly resulting in a crash. an unprotected circuit may cause an electrical short which could result in a fire.

Corrective Action

Navistar will notify owners and repair the affected vehicles free of charge. the safety recall began on july 3, 2009. owners may contact navistar at 1-260-461-1890.
