Defect Summary
Glaval bus is recalling 45 model year 2008 and 2009 transit buses manufactured between july 1, 2008 and january 31, 2009, equipped with carrier k410 rooftop mounted condensers. the cover of the condenser assembly may interfere with the coil header when the cover is placed on the unit assembly. the potential interference prevents the cover from resting on the unit mounting surface, creating a gap between the cover and unit assembly.
Safety Consequence
This condition will not permit the cover fasteners to securely clamp the cover to the unit assembly, which may result in the cover dislocating from the unit during operation, possibly causing a crash or cause injury to pedestrians.
Corrective Action
Glaval will notify owners and repair the buses free of charge. the safety recall began on july 14, 2009. owners may contact glaval at 1-800-333-0510 or carrier at 1-800-673-2431.
