Defect Summary

Panther is recalling certain model year 2008-2009 motorcycles. these motorcycles fail to conform with the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard no. 122, "motorcycle brake systems." the standard requires a strictly mechanical form of engagement of a motorcycle parking brake, whereas the parking brake on these motorcycles relies in part on hydraulic pressure.

Safety Consequence

In the event of a loss of hydraulic pressure through the loss of brake fluid, brake performance will degrade increasing the risk of crash.

Corrective Action

Panther will inspect and replace the necessary components free of charge. the manufacturer has not yet provided an owner notification schedule. owners may contact panther at 1-954-682-3693.
