Defect Summary
Spartan is recalling certain model year 2008 and 2009 fur and amb ambulance apparatus cab and chassis manufactured between august 10, 2007 and october 5, 2009, equipped with front turn signals supplied by sound off signal. the front turn signals do not meet the photometric requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard no. 108, "lamps, reflective devices, and associated equipment," for light output.
Safety Consequence
The visibility of the vehicle will be reduced due to inadequate front lighting, thereby increasing the risk of a crash.
Corrective Action
Spartan is working with the vehicle manufacturers to identify vehicles that may contain the noncompliance. the affected vehicles will be repaired by spartan free of charge. the safety recall began on november 13, 2009. owners may contact their vehicle manufacturer or spartan chassis toll-free at 1-800-543-5008.
