Defect Summary
Heil is recalling certain model year 2006-2009 rapid rail and cp python bodies garbage trucks with bolt-on rear hinge assemblies. affected bodies are those which have a bolt on rear hinge assembly but do not have structural gussets to reinforce the z-plate. cracking can occur in the z-plate area and a failure can result when the body is in the raised position during waste unloading procedures.
Safety Consequence
The body can become unstable when raised during dumping operations and cause the truck to roll over on its side increasing the risk of injuries.
Corrective Action
Dealers will inspect and install the bolt on hinge kit free of charge. the safety recall began on march 10, 2010. owners may contact heil at 866-275-4345.
