Luggage rack may detach from scooter
Defect Summary
Bmw of north america, llc (bmwna) is recalling dealer installed accessory luggage racks (part number 8 527 038) that can be equipped to 2013 bmw c650 gt maxi-scooters. during riding, the attachment bolts of the luggage rack could loosen.
Safety Consequence
If the attachment bolts loosen, the luggage rack could separate from the scooter and become a road hazard for drivers of other vehicles, increasing the risk of a crash.
Corrective Action
Bmwna will notify owners, and dealers will replace the luggage rack free of charge. The recall began july 19, 2013. owners may call bmw at 1-800-525-7417 or email bmw at customerrelations@bmwusa.com.
