Defect Summary
Thermo king corporation (thermo king) is recalling certain precedent c-600, s-600, s-600m, and s-700 refrigeration units manufactured december 2012 through april 30, 2014, used to provide temperature control for cargo inside truck semi-trailers. the affected refrigeration units have plastic side panels used to access the unit for servicing. due to wind or air turbulence, these panels may open and and break or detach from the refrigeration unit.
Safety Consequence
If a panel, or pieces of it, detach from the unit, they may become a road hazard, increasing the risk of a crash.
Corrective Action
Thermo king will notify owners, and dealers will install redesigned attachment hardware and locking mechanisms for the panels, free of charge. the recall began on june 9, 2014. owners may contact thermo king customer service at 1-952-887-2200.
