Failure of x-ray scanner mounting hardware
Defect Summary
Rapiscan systems, inc. (rapiscan) is recalling certain model year 2011-2012 m60 mobile cargo and vehicle inspection systems. in the affected vehicles, due to overtightening, the mounting hardware for the structure that deploys and stows the x-ray scanner may fail, allowing the structure to separate from the vehicle.
Safety Consequence
If the structure detaches from the vehicle, it may become a road hazard, increasing the risk of a crash.
Corrective Action
Rapiscan notified the owner of the affected vehicles on april 11, 2014 and will replace and correctly tighten the mounting hardware, free of charge. Owners may contact rapiscan at 1-310-978-1457.
