Defect Summary

Thor motor coach (thor) is recalling certain model year 2014-2015 outlaw 29h motorcoaches manufactured january 13, 2014, through april 25, 2014. in the affected vehicles, the generator exhaust may be routed too close to the onboard propane storage tank without the necessary heat shielding. additionally, the generator exhaust ends underneath a slide-out room.

Safety Consequence

Due to the exhaust's proximity and the lack of heat shielding, the hot exhaust piping could heat the propane tank and cause it to expand and vent off any build up of pressure, increasing the risk of a fire. the exhaust exiting below a slide out room may cause carbon monoxide to enter the vehicle, increasing the risk of asphyxiation.

Corrective Action

Thor will notify owners, and dealers and replace the existing generator exhaust pipe with a new pipe that has a different routing, free of charge. the recall began on june 27, 2014. owners may contact thor customer service at 1-877-500-1020. Thor's recall number for this campaign is rc000089.
