Defect Summary
Strick trailers, llc (strick) is recalling certain model year 2013 dry freight van trailers, model number s4280e99nfwop, manufactured october 1, 2012, to july 15, 2013. as built, the trailers have tires that are more than 12 inches forward of the rear of the trailer. as such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard (fmvss) no. 224, "rear impact protection."
Safety Consequence
Failing to meet the rear impact protection requirements increases the risk of injury to occupants of a vehicle that collides with the rear of the trailer.
Corrective Action
Strick will notify owners and will replace the fixed torque arm with an adjustable torque arm allowing for the rearward adjustment of the axle, free of charge. the recall began on september 29, 2015. owners may contact strick customer service at 1-704-436-2590.
