Defect Summary

Newmar corporation (newmar) is recalling certain model year 2014-2016 canyon star motorhomes manufactured september 10, 2013, to august 18, 2015 and equipped with atwood on-demand water heaters. in the affected vehicles, the water heater valve may not be properly set and, as a result, the water and gas valve may cause the water heater to overheat the water in the hot water supply tap.

Safety Consequence

The overheating of the water may result in the release of steam, possibly causing the operator is to scald themselves and increasing the risk of injury.

Corrective Action

Newmar will notify owners, and dealers will install a remedy kit to eliminate the scald hazard, free of charge. the recall began on december 8, 2015. owners may contact newmar customer service at 1-800-731-8300.
