Defect Summary

Daimler trucks north america llc (dtna) is recalling certain model year 2012-2015 fccc xcl, xcm, xcp, and xcr motorhome chassis manufactured january 23, 2012, to april 10, 2014. the throttle pedal position sensor on the affected vehicles may not return to zero, causing the engine brake to suddenly not activate as expected, reducing the vehicle's deceleration ability.

Safety Consequence

A sudden loss of an engine brake without warning on a motorhome may lead to a reduced brake ability, potentially increasing the risk of a crash.

Corrective Action

Dtna will notify owners, and dealers will replace the throttle pedal, free of charge. an interim notice was mailed out to owners on july 5, 2016. the recall began on august 18, 2016. owners may contact dtna customer service at 1-800-547-0712. dtna's number for this recall is fl-711.
