Defect Summary

Navistar, inc. (navistar) is recalling certain model year 2016 ic bus re school buses manufactured january 25, 2016, to march 31, 2016, equipped with freedman-brand passenger seats with integrated child seats (ics). these seats may separate from the base frame due to bolt failure. as, such these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard (fmvss) number 222, "school bus passenger seating and crash protection."

Safety Consequence

In the event of a crash, the seat can separate from the base frame, increasing the risk of injury to the seat occupant.

Corrective Action

Navistar has already completed the repair work on the affected vehicles, free of charge to owners. owner notifications will not be sent. owners may contact navistar customer service at 1-331-332-1590.
