Defect Summary

Kovatch mobile equipment corp. (kme) is recalling certain model year 2015-2016 predator ss pumper vehicles manufactured january 17, 2015, to july 21, 2015, and 2014-2016 fdny pumper vehicles manufactured may 21, 2014, to july 27, 2015. the affected vehicles may have replacement drive shafts that may twist and fail during use.

Safety Consequence

Failure of the driveshaft may leave the fire truck immobilized in traffic, increasing the risk of a crash. additionally, the truck may not be able to respond to an emergency, increasing the chances of injury for those at risk.

Corrective Action

Kme has notified owners, and dealers replaced the drive shafts, free of charge. all affected vehicles have been remedied, free of charge. owners may contact kme customer service at 1-800-235-3926.
