Defect Summary
Terex south dakota, inc. (terex) is recalling certain 2015-2018 terex c4000, c5000, c6000, and general digger derricks. the welds between the coupler and hex shaft may be undersized, causing them to fail and the auger to fall unexpectedly.
Safety Consequence
If the auger falls, it can increase the risk of injury to the user or bystanders.
Corrective Action
Terex will notify owners, and dealers will either repair the weld or replace the affected component, free of charge. the recall began october 3, 2018. owners may contact terex customer service at 1-605-882-4000. terex's number for this recall is sn665.
