Pintle mounting may fail and trailer may detach
Defect Summary
Stoughton trailers, llc (stoughton) is recalling certain 2016-2019 dvw trailers. the forward attachment points for the pintle mounting assembly may crack, leading to the detachment of the pintle assembly from the trailer and therefore detaching the trailer in tow.
Safety Consequence
A trailer that detaches from the tow vehicle increases the risk of a crash.
Corrective Action
Stoughton will notify owners, and dealers will repair the cracks and reinforce the mounting, free of charge. the recall began march 25, 2019. owners may contact stoughton customer service at 1-608-873-2580.
