Incorrect counterbalance valve installed
Defect Summary
Altec industries inc. (altec) is recalling certain 2006-2020 ah150 and ah125s articulating non-overcenter aerial devices. the incorrect counterbalance valve may have been installed in the main lift cylinder. as a result, at certain boom positions the counterbalance valve will open due to the pressure in the cylinder exceeding the setting.
Safety Consequence
If one of the hoses between the cylinder and the external counterbalance valve manifold were to fail to hold pressure, the boom could unexpectedly lower, increasing the risk of an injury.
Corrective Action
Altec will notify owners, and dealers will install the correct counterbalance valve if necessary, free of charge. the recall began january 11, 2021. owners may contact altec customer service at 1-877-462-5832. altec's number for this recall is csn 784.
