Defect Summary
Jtekt is recalling certain electronic power steering systems. please see the attached recall report for the affected part numbers. the bolts connecting the electronic power steering unit to the steering rack may be improperly tightened, which can cause the steering gear to lock up and result in a loss of steering control.
Safety Consequence
A loss of steering control increases the risk of a crash.
Corrective Action
Dealers will replace the steering gear, free of charge. the affected vehicle manufacturers will notify owners. owners may contact jtekt customer service at 1-423-618-9526.
