Defect Summary

Michelin north america, inc. (michelin) is recalling certain xvs and trx specialty tires, provided as replacement tires for recall 22t023. the dot certification symbol is missing from the tire sidewalls. as such, these tires fail to comply with the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard numbers 109, "new pneumatic and certain specialty tires," and 139, "new pneumatic radial tires for light vehicles."

Safety Consequence

Tires that are missing a dot symbol may be used in inappropriate applications, increasing the risk of a crash.

Corrective Action

Michelin will replace the tires or fully reimburse customers as necessary, free of charge. owner notification letters were mailed november 1, 2024. owners may contact michelin's customer service at 1-888-971-3801. owners who received replacement xvs, xas, or trx specialty tires under recall 22t023 may need to have their tires replaced again.
