Defect Summary

Navistar, inc. (navistar) is recalling certain 2024-2025 ic bus ce school buses. the brake lights, in certain conditions, may not illuminate when the brake pedal is depressed, due to a software error. as such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard number 121, "air brake systems."

Safety Consequence

Brake lights that fail to illuminate can reduce the visibility of the bus or fail to indicate to other drivers that the bus is slowing down, increasing the risk of a crash.

Corrective Action

Dealers will update the vehicle software, free of charge. owner notification letters were mailed june 24, 2024. owners may contact navistar customer service at 1-800-448-7825. navistar's number for this recall is 24508.
