Defect Summary

The involved vehicles may have been equipped with a three leaf spring assembly instead of a four leaf spring assembly. The present three leaf spring assembly is rated for 5000 lbs. Rather than 6000 lbs. As indicated by the gross axle weight rating stated on the certification label. If the axle system is subjected to overloading, poor trailer towing stability could result and the spring could break.

Corrective Action

Dealer will inspect and, if necessary, install the correct four leaf spring assembly, without charge.
