Brakes:air systems
Defect Summary
The involved vehicles do not conform to federal motor vehicle safety standard no. 121, "air brake systems". Due to the use of a load proportioning valve in the brake system, the brake activation and release time in an unloaded condition, may not meet the requirements. In addition, a double check valve required on a two air tank system was inadvertently omitted.
Corrective Action
The load proportioning valve will be removed and the system will be "replumbed" in order to meet safety standard requirements.
