Defect Summary

Retainer snap ring that secures the pintle hook latch pin may not be properly located and seated.

Safety Consequence

Pintle hook could become disengaged from the lunette eyeresulting in separation of the trailing unit from the lead trailer. Separationcould result in a crash.

Corrective Action

Assure that snap ring is properly installed bt removing ring, cleaning the machined groove, and reinstalling snap ring.
