Defect Summary

Trw supplied power steering gears with non-heat-treated worm screws. The steering gears without heat treated worm screws can lock up in tight turning maneuvers.

Safety Consequence

Lock ups of the steering gear causes loss of steeringcontrol and could result in an accident.

Corrective Action

Replace the non-heat-treated worm screws.
