Defect Summary

The welds on a bracket which attaches the tilt- telescoping steering column to the firewall under the dash are defective and could fail.

Safety Consequence

Failure of the attachment bracket can result in a lossof steering control and a possible vehicle accident.

Corrective Action

A new, improved bracket will be installed on all affected units.
