Defect Summary

A 2" ball was to be welded to a steel bar as well as the nut for the ball welded to the shank. Some vehicles were not properly welded allowing the nut to come off.

Safety Consequence

The ball can separate from the steel bar allowing loss of the towed trailer.

Corrective Action

The trailer hitches will be inspected and welded properly.
