Defect Summary

Vehicle description: transit buses. the brake system response time for apply and the stopping distance requirement when the control line was disconnected at the rear relay valve did not comply with the requirements of fmvss no. 121, "air brake system."

Safety Consequence

Increased braking distance can occur increasing the risk of a vehicle crash.

Corrective Action

Dealers will add a double check valve at the control port of the service relay valve and replace a 5/8" line with a 3/4" line from the front service reservoir to the brake pedal.
